The 4th annual No-Kill Walk for The Animals highlights the extraordinary efforts made by hundreds of no kill rescues and shelters to reduce the killing of healthy, adoptable animals, and to help raise money for participating no-kill rescues. ARC and Minnesotans Exposing Petland will be there to spread the word about the cruelties of the pet trade. We will have a booth and are looking for volunteers for the following shifts: 8:30am – 11:00am (includes set-up) and 11:00am – 1:30pm (includes cleanup) Event is at Minnesota State Fairgrounds, 1265 Snelling Ave. in St. Paul, booth #28 in the International Bazaar. Seasoned vegans Rachel and Matt love answering each and every question you have. Bike to Local Businesses Day is part of Bike Week, a celebration of bicycling as an integral part of a healthy community. On this day, local businesses will host block parties in Tangletown, Northeast, Seward, and Downtown. Dallas Rising from ARC will be speaking to a Girl Scout Troop in St. Paul, reading the book Garlic-Onion-Beet-Spinach-Mango-Grapefruit Juice to them, and discussing the golden rule, empathy, and how we can all be kinder to animals.
|17 Vegan Food Sampling at 11:00 am
ARC will be introducing community members to delicious vegan food samples at the Judson Street Fest hosted by Judson Memorial Baptist Church. This neighborhood street fest is open to community and church members alike. In addition to a diverse selection of live music, there will be food, local craft vendors, kid activities, and even a dunk tank. Fest is at 41st Street and Harriet Avenue South in Minneapolis from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. May Volunteer Orientation at 2:00 pm
If you were not able to make it to our last volunteer orientation, we will be hosting another one right around the corner. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the history and mission of ARC, what we believe and why, what problems we see in the world regarding animals, how we try to solve those problems, and why we try to solve them in the way we do. You will also get a comprehensive overview of all of the programs and campaigns we run and figure out what you feel most excited about so we can get you connected with the right folks in our group. So come out, meet some other people who care about animals as much as you do, and see how you can get involved with ARC. Join us at our Fifth Annual Vegan Waffle Party - yes, that time of year when the waffles are piping hot and the toppings seemingly endless. This delicious waffle brunch goes from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm at the Fuller Park building located at 4800 Grand Ave. S (the corner of 48th St. W and Grand Ave. S). All you need to do is bring one tasty topping to share. Soy vanilla ice cream anyone. Peanut butter and banana. What about some bee-free honey with cinnamon. Whatever you bring should be 100 percent vegan, and all ingredients listed on the packaging or on a note card. Bring your own reusable plate and utensils. The event is free and Fuller Park has a playground and a field perfect for tossing a frisbee. We are receiving lots of fur donations and we would like to ship them to wildlife rehabilitation centers as soon as possible. We will be having a Cuddle Coats prep party at Ethique Nouveau, 317 W 48th St. in Minneapolis, on Saturday, May 24th from 12:30-1:30. During the prep party, we will be prepping donated fur coats and accessories for shipment to wildlife rehabilitation centers. We will be removing all buttons, zippers, liners, etc, so feel free to bring a lint roller and please wear clothes that you do not mind getting a little dirty. All are welcome. If you have to be picky about which protests you attend, pick this one from 1:00-3:30 pm at the Petland store at 2123 Old Hudson Road in St. Paul on Saturday, May 31. Help send a message loud and clear that we are not going away until Petland stops selling animals from commercial breeding operations. Even if you can only come for part of the protest, please try to make it. The animals need you to help educate the public on their behalf. Invite your friends. Help us spread the word. Remember that we do not park or trespass in the Petland parking lot. Parking is available in the St. Paul Youth Services lot to the north of the strip mall.
