- Leaflet at U of M Spring JamLeaflet at U of M Spring Jam
Time: 11:45 am
Join ARC in leafletting at the U of M Spring Jam from 11:45am-12:45pm for the No Pain In My Name campaign. Meet in front of Coffman Union, by the front doors, at 300 Washington Ave SE in Minneapolis. For the past 30 years Dr. Marilyn Carroll has been forcibly addicting primates, rats, and mice to nicotine, alcohol, and street drugs to induce cravings and observe their painful withdrawal, all on the taxpayer dime. To date, she has NOTHING to show for her years of research except a body count of abused animals. Join us as we hand out leaflets with information about this wasteful, cruel, expensive research and help raise awareness of our campaign. - Worldwide Vegan Bake SaleWorldwide Vegan Bake Sale
Time: 1:00 pm
It's that time of year again. The World Wide Vegan Bake Sale is the biggest and best bake sale of the year and we are proud to be putting on our sixth WWVBS in as many years. Time flies. Come, and bring your friends to stock up on lots of vegan goodies. Sweets and savories, we will even have treats for dogs this year. Just remember to bring some kind of a box or container to haul your loot home because we will be charging for boxes this year to make the event more eco-friendly. If you would like to contribute, email Betsy Born at email@example.com to let her know what you would like to bring. Be sure to write the ingredients down somewhere so that allergy sufferers are well-informed. We also request that items be donated pre-wrapped or cut so that they are easier to divvy up. You can drop them off between 12pm-12:45pm on the day of the sale or between 12pm-6pm the day before. Bake sale will be held at Ethique Nouveau, 317 W 48th St. in Minneapolis from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at 1:00 pm
- Peaceable Kingdom II ScreeningPeaceable Kingdom II Screening
Time: 6:00 pm
Join us at Boneshaker Books, 2002 23rd Ave. S in Minneapolis at 6:00 pm for a screening of the movie Peaceable Kingdom II. Interwoven with the stories of farmers is the dramatic animal rescue work of a newly trained humane police officer whose sense of justice puts her at odds with the law she is charged to uphold. With strikingly honest interviews and rare footage demonstrating the emotional lives and intense family bonds of animals most often viewed as commodities, this groundbreaking documentary shatters stereotypical notions of farmers, farm life, and perhaps most surprisingly, farmed animals themselves. - Book Group: Op. Bite BackBook Group: Op. Bite Back
Time: 7:00 pm
Join the book group at Hard Times Cafe, 1821 Riverside Avenue in Minneapolis from 7-8:30 pm, for a discussion of the true-life story of Rod Coronado, who launched Operation Bite Back, a war on fur farming that left a trail of burned-out labs and farms across the country and made him the subject of an intense, years-long FBI manhunt. The campaign helped give rise to the Animal Liberation Front and its spin-off, the Earth Liberation Front. Join us for a discussion of this true-life story that reads like a values-based action packed novel. We will talk about the controversies around direct action as a liberation strategy, the current war on wolves, and how Native traditions tie in with modern day mainstream values. Rod Coronado himself will be our special guest; come and meet the man this book is all about. at 7:00 pm

Join Us on Fur Free Friday
Join us in protesting Ribnick Fur and Leather, 224 N 1st Street in Minneapolis, on Fur Free Friday, November 23 from 11am to 1pm. If you agree that the fur industry is cruel and unnecessary, we want you there!
New this year will be anti-fur caroling, with a short, on-the-street rehearsal for those who want to sing during the event. Lyrics will be provided on site, so come ready to sing. You can make a personalized sign if you’d like, but we’ll also have signs and literature available, so feel free to just show up.
If you’re still wearing fur coats and fur-lined hats and gloves, did you know that through our Cuddle Coats program those fashion faux pas can be donated to ARC for a tax deduction? Donated furs offer comfort to orphaned, injured, and abused wild animals and aid them in their recovery at our 14 partner wildlife rehabilitation organizations.
The coyotes pictured enjoy snuggling up in Cuddle Coats donated to a wildlife rehab facility in Nebraska, which says the furs are a more natural alternative to using cloth, which may smell like detergent. “The Cuddle Coats are useful for orphaned animals. They seem to like snuggling into a fur as opposed to a blanket or other items we may use.”
Several local thrift stores are dropoff locations for furs and carry our Cuddle Coats brochure, educating the public about the cruelty of the fur industry. Furs can also be dropped at the ARC office or mailed to us. Let’s make the best of a bad situation for the animals. Please help us spread the word that a cruel fashion statement can at least benefit wild animals in need.
