Join us from 2:00-3:30 pm for a discussion of Veganism & Masculinity at Vegan Community Circle at Ethique Nouveau, 317 W 48th St. in south Minneapolis. Vegan men are often portrayed in American media as less manly. As vegans, we all know that the ultimate sign of true masculinity is taking responsibility for ones actions and living by a strong set of beliefs and morals. Still though, vegan men have to deal with a lot of crap, as the American idea of masculinity is slow to change. Come join other vegans and discuss how you feel about and are impacted by the current ideal of masculinity. Both guys and gals are welcome. Note: Vegan Community Circle is intended for people who are already vegan. VCC is designed to be a safe space for people who are already vegan to be able to speak freely about their experiences living in a non-vegan world.

Join ARC at a peaceful demonstration at the Petland store in Shakopee at 8091 Old Carriage Court, 1:30pm-3:00pm, on Sunday, 4/7. The Petland chain continues to encourage the selling of animals for profit even as millions of animals are killed in shelters across the country. The stores in the largest pet store chain in the country support breeding mills by purchasing their puppies, kittens, small mammals, birds, and fish from large-scale brokers and/or directly from large-scale breeding operations throughout the U.S. Not only does this contribute to the killing of millions of homeless animals every year; it also perpetuates a culture where animals are bought and sold as products. We are part of a national effort to persuade Petland to stop selling live animals (all of the Petland stores in Canada have stopped selling live animals). We provide signs, but you are welcome to bring your own as well. See you there!

When The Sexual Politics of Meat: A Feminist-Vegetarian Critical Theory by Carol J. Adams was published more than 20 years ago, it caused an immediate stir among writers and thinkers, feminists and animal rights activists alike. Never before had the relationship between patriarchy and meat eating been drawn so clearly, the idea that there lies a strong connection between the consumption of women and animals so plainly asserted. But, as the 21 personal stories in this anthology show, the impact of this provocative text on womens lives continues to this day, and it is as diverse as it is revelatory.

Donate to ARC and Help Us Help Animals!
Most of our lives are pretty comfortable compared to a duck on a foie gras farm, an elephant in a circus, a male baby chick being tossed out like garbage, or a homeless cat digging in the trash for food. Donating to the Animal Rights Coalition provides the support that is so vital to ensuring we can advocate for these animals in need. Please donate now – even a small amount makes a big difference. And consider signing up to be a monthly donor to provide the predictable, ongoing support that will allow us to focus all our energies on animals in need. Show your commitment to reducing animal suffering by supporting our work to save animal lives.
