We are receiving lots of fur donations for our Cuddle Coats program and want to ship them to our wildlife rehab partners as soon as possible. Meet at Ethique Nouveau at 317 W 48th St. in Minneapolis at 6:00 pm to help prep fur coats and accessories for shipment. Wear clothes that can get a little fuzzy. Time: 1:00 pm
If you have to be picky about which protests you attend, pick this one from 1:00-3:30 pm at the Petland store at 2123 Old Hudson Road in St. Paul on Saturday, September 27. Help send a message loud and clear that we are not going away until Petland stops selling animals from commercial breeders. Even if you can only come for part of the protest, please try to make it. The animals need you to help educate the public on their behalf. Invite your friends. Help us spread the word. Remember that we do not park or trespass in the Petland parking lot. - Vikings Stadium DemonstrationVikings Stadium Demonstration
Time: 1:00 pm
Urge the Vikings football team to use bird-safe glass in the construction of their new stadium. Birds do not perceive transparent glass as a solid object and attempt to fly to reflected habitat or through the invisible surface, often being killed in these collisions. In response to concerns for the welfare of our birds, the people with the power to make this change have said they will turn off lights when possible but that is not sufficient to protect the birds. Join this event organized by the Minnesota Chapter of the Audubon Society and endorsed by ARC. Meet at the Downtown East Light Rail Station & Platform, 429 Park Ave. South in Minneapolis. Signs will be provided. at 1:00 pm

When Rescuing Really Means Killing: A Follow-up
We recently posted some questions regarding the killing of about 130 cats that the Animal Humane Society reportedly “rescued” from a mobile home in St. Anthony, Minnesota. In response to ARC’s expressed concerns, and concerns expressed by many other animal advocates, the AHS board issued a form letter response on April 6.
In their response, the AHS board failed to address the serious issues raised. Instead, they simply recited their talking points that killing the cats was necessary to keep people and animals safe from disease, points that had already been widely discredited by many knowledgeable authorities.
ARC has learned that nationally recognized veterinarians with expertise in shelter medicine have written AHS and stated that there is “no veterinary basis for such a statement.” Veterinarian, bioethicist, and syndicated columnist Dr. Michael Fox and consulting veterinarian, lecturer, and trainer Dr. Linda Wolf are distributing a public letter to the AHS board in which they chastise the organization for the killings, and for the failure of the board to address the issues brought to them. Read the letter from Drs. Wolf and Fox, along with the form letter response from the AHS Board of Directors to complaints about the killing of the cats in St. Anthony, and then contact the AHS Board via email to tell them that the serious questions raised by the community deserve to be fully answered – and not brushed off with a letter that fails to address any of the questions raised.
